No lippie? No sweat. A lip pencil will do just as well... even better!

I remembered reading long time ago a tip from some superstar that if she needed to have a long-wearing no-bleeding lip colour, she would use a lip pencil all over her lips, just like how one would use a lipstick.

And so, just before the turn of the new year, I grabbed this precious beauty at an amazing end-of-the-year discount for just RM22 from StrawberryNet.

Rouge in Love by Lancome

rouge in love booth

Recently, Lancome invited some of us to a bloggers' party to experience for ourselves their Rouge In Love lipstick collection.

rouge in love collection
I was surprised to see the variety of colours from each of their themed group, Tonight is my night, Boudoir Time and Jolis Matins - 27 altogether!!

trying out
While there was a demonstration on how to achieve a sweet look with light makeup applications, some of the evurl girls were busy working. Hey, what better way to try out them lipsticks when everyone else is busy at the makeup demo ;)

yani domz bee
This is Yani, Dom and Beetrice all wearing the same lip colour - 375B (Bold Fuschia). When it was applied on our lips, the colour pigments didn't look similar to each other's lips. However, in the photo, it looks quite the same, don't you think?

trying on face
And once we're done putting lipstick on our lips, we played around trying them out on our faces hehe. Nah... this was actually one of the activities during the Rouge in Love party.

Untitled
At the end of the day, I went home with this colour. It was unfortunate that I didn't quite get the colour I wanted but the rest of the bloggers were really sporting as we exchanged with each other the lipstick we got. Initially I received a much lighter colour that isn't suitable for my skintone. This one, 132M is also a little light for my liking but I only discovered how light it is once I bring it home. But still, a nice change from all the other colours I already own.

The lipstick is quite creamy and the colour lasts too. I didn't fall in love with it instantly probably because I didn't get the colour I like. But texture is always important to me and I think the moisturising factor is not too bad. But, due to my dry lips, the light colour does enhance the dryness of my lips and although I wanted to post a photo I took of my lips, it didn't really make the colour attractive in the photo.

At the moment, if you follow Lancome Malaysia fb page, a Rouge in Love contest is currently ongoing. Do check it out and see how you can further discover the lip colours (retails at RM75).

Have you tried the lipstick yet?

Lancome Génifique Youth Activator and Love on Mother's Day

*photo

What would come to your mind when you think of your mother?? ;)

On this year's Mother's Day, I can't help but to think of how my mom had influenced my whole lifetime in terms of beauty and beauty care.

Yes, beauty is not just from what you see externally, beauty is from within. But other than that, you can't possibly just live on that belief and expect people to accept you as is. We are all humans, after all and it is quite important to create a good first impression before others can start to look into our inner beauty. Hence, among the things she taught me was to take care of my skin from a young age.

Brighter, more luminous skin with Lancome's Blanc Expert Duo - Derm Crystal & Spot Eraser Melanolyser

Remember my post on Lancome's Blanc Expert Derm Crystal about 2 months ago? Well, today I would like to update you on how it fared so far.

lancome blanc duo

I did mention to you in that entry that I was impressed with the Derm Crystal immediately after the first use. If I had wanted clarity and smoothness of the skin, I got it. I used it at night and I think the salicylic acid content somewhat helped slough away dull skin - I woke up looking un-tired with smooth skin.

I have been getting a little bit more pimples than usual before this and I must say that although it is not an anti-blemish product, it probably did help with the appearance of my skin. And since I felt truly happy with its efficacy, I have decided to get its soul mate, the Blanc Expert Spot Eraser just to see how much better my skin would look. I am, after all a big fan of brightening products and I believe that the ingredients in this range could help me look naturally radiant.

According to Lancome, the combination of both products can dramatically improve the look of skin, making it look exceptionally luminous. They would give you flawless, fair radiant skin where skin dullness is reduced, you'll get longer lasting glow, there'll be a reduction in dark spots and skin will appear brighter. I am not sure how they will fare on me but I may be biased of Lancome since I did use its whitening range some time back and my old pimple marks were practically erased off my face. Now, they have all been reformulated and that might not necessarily give me the same effect especially since my hormones have been playing tricks on me and the skin isn't as youthful as it was back then.

Thankfully, as I discovered, they work pretty well. I have been using the Derm Crystal for about 2 months now and the Spot Eraser for about 1 month. I may not see any dramatic results since I have been using whitening products for the past couple of years on and off, but I did notice that my skin looks pretty healthy even without makeup in the afternoon. Improvement in clarity is noticeable  and skin texture has definitely looked so much better.

Before this, I would use an entire range of whitening products from other brands yet I don't see quite the result I get from just using these 2 products to supplement my current anti-blemish skincare regime. At my most tired moods, I would be surprised to see how clear the skin appears.

I'm quite happy with the way this duo work on my skin. Just 2 drops of crystal clear Derm Crystal and 2 drops of the white-colour liquid of the Spot Eraser on my palm, mix them together and apply. I can't see the content of the blue tube after 1 month of use but the Derm Crystal is still about half way through after 2 months of use, twice a day. I won't say I am loving them tremendously but I do like them very much :)

Both Derm Crystal and Spot Eraser Melanolyser comes in a 30ml packaging that retails at RM350 and RM330 each.

Are you a fan of brightening products? Have you tried these yet?

Crystal Clear Skin with Lancome's Derm-Crystal, Crystal Brightness Activating Essence

IMG_6272
It's pretty tough to read what's written under the words, BLANC EXPERT, right? Well, that's probably because that's almost to that effect the new product promises to deliver - crystal clear looking skin.

I have always had a soft spot for Blanc Expert because this was the first whitening range I used and I thought their spot eraser truly worked to lighten my old acne marks and evening out my skin tone. And I remembered how easy it was using their whitening range because they do not require you to use too many products the way many other brands would.

Very recently, Lancome launched Derm-CrystalTM, a crystal brightness activating essence in their Blanc Expert range. Come to think of it, I believe they never had any whitening serum before this, other than the spot eraser, right? (please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)...

A few bloggers (moi included) were given the honour to be the first to discover what Derm-CrystalTM is all about. And when it was unveiled to us, I guess many of us were a little skeptical (moi included too!)... I mean, you have every single skincare company tell you what their whitening/brightening serum can do to the skin's deeper layers but when I use them, I don't see much difference other than just a little improvement that probably can be achieved with clever makeup tricks.

Furthermore, when they explained some of the main ingredients used in this crystal serum, I thought they sounded too simple - ingredients like soy, sunflower seed, peppermint and rose. Of course, they also have those regular ingredients we would come across many brightening formula like Vitamin C (which they called, Actyl C, a formulation exclusive to Lancome) and salicylic acid but yeah... they sounded just normal.

Skepticism aside, I was still curious to find out how well this liquidy serum fare. I kept reminding myself how well the spot eraser worked on my skin at one time years back and I was hoping that this serum is not just an addition to the range.

If you must know, the soy and sunflower extracts can help us achieve an ideal luminous and bright skin. The soy extract can assist in the stimulation of new collagen while the sunflower extract can help prevent darkening (or yellowing) of the skin. The rose and mint extracts apparently help calm the skin and I guess for me, the mint extract may also help make skin feels fresher, no?

In any whitening/brightening skincare launch, we would always be educated on how our skin works, scientifically, the dermal layers. This is so interesting to me, as I always put to use the biology subject I took well into my matriculation years. Scientifically, what they presented to me may sound a little over the top but I guess with research and findings in the laboratory, these findings may not be highly illogical either.

crystal
This was a clever way of them showing to us how clarity of the skin can be achieved by shining the light to a transparent box filled with 'crystals' as opposed to skin's fibre that's not being taken cared (as per the box on the right) ;P it's just a clever gimmick that I thought was fun to watch.

By targeting the furthest epidermal layer, your skin will possibly reveal its "inner light" making you glow from within.

Well, I'd like to say that the curiosity in me killed the cat and I put aside my usual whitening serum that night after the event... only after one application, I must say, I was stunned... hehe... will update that in another, entry, shall we?

Blanc Expert range
L-R: cleanser, toner, spot eraser, Derm-CrystalTM, moituriser (lotion), moisturiser (day cream), eye serum and well, they were supposed to have the night cream which is dark blue in colour but I just realised that it is the day cream at the most right.

And with the unveiling of the new serum, we were all also shown the new packaging of the Blanc Expert range. I love the new midnight blue. It makes the entire range looks so luxurious, gorgeous and uniformed.

Note the spot eraser on the left side of the serum in the picture above. If you're already using this star product, the combination of both the spot eraser and Derm-CrystalTM will offer exceptional efficacy. Haha... am a little worried of that because how much more luminous can your skin get, right? But let's not laugh until we put it to the test, shall we? And am suddenly already planning to get this product again once I get my next paycheck *wink*

Lancome's Spring 2012 make up collection launches with make up parties!

Lancome has launched their Spring make up collection and what better way than to have a make up party to celebrate looking pretty ☺

The Roseraie des Delices is all things pretty with pastels and shades of green and pink that will make you look and feel like a princess or that you’re surrounded by a garden of flowers.

I myself had the opportunity to attend their make up party at the Parkson Pavilion counter and truly enjoyed the make up ‘workshop’.

Using the colours from the Spring collection, the make up artists will be guiding you through a step-by-step make up lesson on how best you can use those colours. Unlike other make over sessions when you purchase a certain amount during launches like this, Lancome decided that they would not just do the make up for you. Instead, you will be personally taught on how you can apply the colours as they demonstrate on one half of your face and you can then try it on the other half yourself.

the busy counter...

Although you’d always think that a beauty blogger is an expert at applying make up, I found myself a little nervous when it comes to applying eye colours. This is because there are way so many techniques to apply them and there are always new ways to try to make the best out of the 4 or 5 colours that usually come in a palette. Hence, I find that the make up party is a perfect way to throw in a valuable ‘gift’ for the customers, via the personal tutorial.

I intended to take a photo of the eye colours and was pleasantly surprised to see one of my eyes nicely captured reflected by the mirror of the compact ;) oh, mind the fingerprint marks, though...

Don’t be mislead by the pastel colours…. I was surprised that the pink actually stood out when applied on my eyelids. I like the colour transfer and how the pigments can be light but come out stronger when layered on. And the technique to apply was really simple unlike how I’d apply eye shadows on a regular day. If you’d want to find out more, please do visit the Lancome counters to discover it for yourself.

On the left, is a peachy coloured blusher. And on the right is how the blusher actually looks like brand new! Apparently, when it is used many times, the highlighter (the white shade above the pink rose) will mix with the pink and transform the rose into a peachy tone. Don't be put off by this effect because the colour is actually very pretty on the skin and takes only a few swirl of the brush for it to tranform you into a pretty princess! :)

don't you think I looked radiant? ;) I love the lip colour. I had on 321 and colour fever gloss 310.

With the make up party, I also learnt the type of foundation suitable for my current skin concern and the shade that's perfect for my skin tone. But I especially loved that I was able to discover a concealer that made the eye colours stay on way til night time, even after a heaty experience cooking in the kitchen. Yes, with my make up on haha...

And if you purchase products worth RM500 during the party, you will receive this gift set. I don't know about you, but I hardly buy for the sake of getting the gift sets unless I know for sure I would be replenishing my products anyway.

And what better way than to smile perdy in front of all the busy people, working at the counter ;) thank you, Ms Paris B, for this photo... you take great candid shots *errkksss*

I went home admiring the blusher... pretty, no?

Their eyeshadow palettes retail at RM140, the blusher is RM120, the Le French Touch lipsticks cost RM80 and the Color Fever Gloss is RM70.

The Roseraie des Delices is available at all Lancome counters nationwide but the make up parties are only held at these places and you would need to book a slot with them for the make up workshop (check them out this weekend!):
Isetan KLCC (03-23820281) - 18 Feb
Parkson KLCC (03-23820280) - 19 Feb
Sogo KL (03-26944378) - 19 Feb

For more information, you can always check their Facebook page as they have frequent updates on their events and promotions.

New Fragrance - Trésor Midnight Rose by Lancome

When I saw Emma Watson as the face of Trésor Midnight Rose by Lancome, I had mixed feelings. I mean I love Trésor. I think it is one of Lancome's best treasures. It's been there for the longest time and I love the deep sensuous scent.

The name, Midnight Rose somehow gave me the impression that it is a sweeter more seductive scent but the face of it doesn't quite fit the impression. All these while, with classic beauties like Penelope Cruz, Isabella Rossellini and Kate Winslet gave Trésor a distinctive hold to the mature and more confident women. And that was how I always looked at the fragrance and what it provides me - the confidence and dash of classic sexiness.

So when this bottle landed on me, I am not sure if it will suit me. The fact that Emma Watson was chosen was probably for a reason - that the fragrance is probably tailored to the much younger market who is nevertheless confident but very fresh. I'd like something bold, something more mature and one that evoke a sense of happiness, calmness and strength.

A whiff of it kinda surprised me, though... because it still retain that boldness of Trésor yet it feels fresh but not light enough to dissipate too quickly. It lingers on to a sweet romantic scent that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Unlike many fragrances with a bold note, the scent does not sting and my children felt completely calm and comfortable when they're near me. In fact, the Trésor Midnight Rose is good enough to be worn on any occasions - not necessarily a sexy night out with your date or on a social event.

This has quickly become a favourite for me. I have one particular fragrance which I'd use very often because of the unique and fresh scent and the Trésor Midnight Rose seems to have that same element and more. The sweet romantic feeling it brings gives me such a lovely experience and since its bottle is much easier to grab (compared to my supposedly all time favourite bottle) I would always want to reach out to it amongst those other bottles of fragrances on my vanity desk.

These are what make the scent so desirable but I really couldn't tell because everything sorta blended well together. I am sure, though, that the winning formula must be the jasmine and vanilla contents.

I think Lancome is currently doing a promotion on Trésor Midnight Rose. You can check out Lancome Malaysia's facebook page to find out more about the fragrance and you can redeem a free sample when you register with them.

This EDP retails at RM205 for its 50ml bottle and RM265 for the 75ml.

Have you ever tried Lancome's Trésor? Do you like it? I still think that Emma Watson is not really suitable as the face of Trésor Midnight Rose but I guess in this case, it is really irrelevant because the fragrance speaks for itself.

Peppermint to Rejuvenate and Reenergise Your Tired Mood

It is almost the end of the year already and what do you do to rejuvenate your mind and senses to keep you fresh and looking forward to a new start in 2010?

I've always loved products with aromatherapeutic properties... Though some school of thought would say that the smells from aromatic products only give benefit via psychological means, ie. only through our sense of smell and nothing else, I must say however that it is through the power of our minds that we could influence our entire body to feel what we want to feel.

And here I would like to share just one of the few aromatherapy scents that I like, which would help rejuvenate my senses especially after an entire week of house chores, the baby, work and putting everyone else before me.

Once a week I would spend that extra time in the shower layering products on my face and body a-la at the spa, the hot shower is turned full blast while I immerse myself in whatever scents I choose to use, the smell lingering in the bathroom with the steam from the shower help to intensify the degree of the lingering scent.

The main note from the aromatic mix contains Peppermint Oil, that delivers a cool sensation, coupled with some relaxing and moisturising combination from other types of essential oil to achieve the desired results.

Firstly, I'd start with cleansing my face, scrub and then I'd use a self-warming mask on my very oily face that's pretty much highly stressed and congested. Lancome's Pure Focus Deep Cleansing Mask is a self-heating mask that contains marine algae. It has a really light gel texture, to be spread thick on the face and massaged evenly for 30 seconds. I love how warm the skin feels upon contact with the minty green concoction, where it automatically opens up the pores for deeper cleansing action. Although you should just wash it off after the 30 seconds massage, I would usually leave it on my face while I step into the shower as a cool minty sensation is released from the mask - a good start to energising my tired senses and invoke such a clean feeling.

Then, comes my favourite part... A nice long shower where my entire body will be cleansed, feels minty cool and leaves my skin feeling soft.

In the shower, I would use a shower gel from Thann (formerly known Harnn & Thann). And this one's from an accidental find while I was shopping for miniature toiletries during my corporate heydays, for some Board of Directors who were visiting a massive oil and gas construction vessel still under construction. I just thought that aromatic scents available on board their individual berths after a tiring tour would be heavenly... and at that time, many luxury brands like L'occitane and Clarins didn't have travel sizes while mass brands like Body Shop and Crabtree do not contain pure aromatic oils in their toiletries. Thus, I was elated when I came across Harnn & Thann in 1Utama and remembered how much I loved their Sea Foam shower gel I bought on a holiday in Langkawi.

The shower gel may not instantly leave a cool effect unless you use a good body scrub like this before you start using the shower gel. The reason is probably because once you have gotten rid of accumulated dead skin cells through that gentle exfoliating step, the skin would be able to respond better to any energising properties upon contact.

Other than Peppermint Oil, The Sea Foam Aromatherapy Shower Gel contains ingredients like rosemary leaf oil, eucalyptus oil, thyme oil and rice bran oil to give you that effective combination.

The idea for a DIY aromatherapeutic session is for you to relax. So, don't rush it while in the shower because you should enjoy the lingering scent while the mind gets the message that the body is recovering from an entire week's tiredness allowing time for the cool peppermint effect to work its magic.

And if I am really tired, I would overdo it a little by also using something minty on my hair. I would either use the same range from Thann, which always make my hair soft and smooth or I would reach out for Aveda's Rosemary Mint shampoo which is meant for fine hair. As I have thick and oily chemically processed hair, I would treat the shampoo as a clarifying shampoo that I would use fortnightly to rid the hair of any build-up from those finishing and styling products I'd use on my hair. I bought the shampoo in a 1L bottle as they had a promotion about a year ago. And only using it once in awhile makes the large bottle last like forever! But, hair products are supposed to have a 5-year shelf life so I am not worried if it goes bad ;)

While shampooing, the body would tingle from the mint in the shower gel that hasn't been rinsed off. Before I wash all of it away, I'd start by rinsing off the mask on my face, then the hair and finally the body. Ironically, running hot water against the cool minty after-feel feels awesome. Probably, also due to the presence of relaxing rosemary.

After that relaxing session, suffice a simple body moisturiser slathered on your damp skin but if you would want to feel all minty all over, you could also top it up with Bobbi Brown's Lip Tint on your lips. A lot of people do not really like it but I absolutely love the gloss-in-a-tube as it contains SPF15 and leaves a tingling minty feel on my highly-sensitised dry lips.

All these are enough to make me feel reenergised, fresh and ready to face the world.

note: Harnn & Thann no longer have retail outlets in 1U and Bangsar Village. However, their products can be purchased through their Thann Sanctuary in One World Hotel near 1 Utama.

Lancome Beauty Institute @Bangsar Village II

My idea of a facial is one that is not clinical. I would like my facials to be a multi-sensory experience of touch and smell, and I always would look forward to those relaxing shoulder massages since I hardly have time for a full body massage.

Since I’ve been to Clarins and Estee Lauder’s salons before, my visit to Lancome’s Beauty Institute was without high expectations. My main aim was only to have a facial treatment before Raya comes and that I was going to enjoy the 30% off for my first facial – at RM40 cheaper than the salon I usually frequent to, I would be just happy with that 90-minutes relaxation being pampered by a beauty therapist.

Bangsar Village is a little away from home but I just had to take my chances with this salon since it’s only a week before Raya and I am sure other salons would already be fully booked. Parking was a breeze at BVII and LBI was really easy to find.

As I arrived in front of the salon, I was a little perplexed as I didn’t know where their door was – there wasn’t any ‘OPEN’ sign and the entire outlet was decked in see-through glass. But I reckoned that I should walk over to the end of their shoplot and walah… the glass door slided open hehe…

One of them got my name and accompanied me upstairs for a skin consultation. She didn’t introduce herself neither did she wear any name tags. She asked me if I had had my breakfast and I told her I was fasting. The waiting hall was huge with comfy sofas and tables. Despite telling her I was fasting, she asked again if I wanted any drinks. Judging from that, I think she just isn’t well trained for small talks but I have to give her credit for trying to make conversations.

I was asked to fill up their form and had to wait for their machine since someone else was also using it at that time. I had nooo problems with that as she handed me some beauty magazines to flip through.

The consultation came and I was struck by how high-tech and accurate the machine was… I mean, I’ve gone through something like that in Leonard Drake and Clara’s a long, long time ago but all were very stereotype. I mean, I’ve always, always told people (beauticians, especially) that my skin type is oily. O-I-L-Y but time and again, all of them would tell me that it is impossible to have such oily skin since I have passed that 25 mark almost 10 years already. Apparently, those above 30 would normally have combo skin with some dehydration/sensitiveness here and there. Even when my skin gets all shiny and oily, some beautician would tell me that the foundation I was using is the wrong type or that I didn’t moisturise well bla bla bla.

This time however, the first sign of me falling in love with this salon was how the machine affirms my understanding of my own skin’s character. At 34 years of age (oppps… not yet 34, not until December!!), my skin’s oiliness is much higher above the average level all other women of my age. And since I have not been using proper range of skincare, I may have stripped too much of the surface oil, making my pores enlarged most of the time as they try to absorb more moisture from the surroundings. Hence, making the upper dermis really sensitive and dehydrated despite moi experiencing all-day shine.

All that time, she still hadn’t introduced herself and I was too engrossed with what I learnt about my skin that I hadn’t thought about asking her name.

One advantage of having such oily skin is that the reading showed my skin’s firmness and elasticity faring much higher than an average 30-something year old woman. *yeayyy* thus, anti-aging care isn't at all necessary although it wouldn't hurt to start.

She told me that I really need to treat the oiliness yet increase the hydration. So I asked her – how was I able to do that when the moisturisers basically make the skin dry and matte. And she went on to tell me that I need to treat that yet use something else to increase hydration. Ooohhh kayy… I was a little skeptical as I foresee the amount of products I’d need to overlap. And, just as she failed on the small talks, she wasn’t very good at explanation either due to having just a fair command of the English language. Thus, some detailed questions that I have (I sound like a journalist there) like blotchy skin didn’t have a proper explanation from her. But I wasn’t going to be a bitch that day and so I thought I’d just get on with the treatment.

As I read a review here, I went with the intention of getting a whitening facial hoping that my chicken pox marks would lighten a little so that it won’t be too visible in my Raya photos. But I was surprised when told that the whitening facial may be a little too rich for my skin and that I should have my skin properly cleansed first. I was a little disappointed with that but I wouldn’t want to argue either.

When I found out that she was going to work on my face, I asked for her name. Tiffany. My name is Tiffany. Hehe. Ok… that was sorted.

I was brought into this room, all draped in white curtains and just a relaxing chair in the middle. The lighting was in pink, to welcome me in. There was a huge locker for me to put my stuff and I was given a pair of comfy slippers to wear. She left the room and told me to press this one switch in the room once I was ready. Ok.

She helped me onto the chair and I fell in love at how the chair felt totally comfy under me. Compared to other facial salons (with the exception of Leonard Drake as they put a pillow under your legs), you are not subjected to hard flat bed. This one will ensure that the chair (when turned flat into a bed) would follow the crevices of your body, making it perfectly comfortable.

Then, Tiffany turned on the specially composed music that has been customised according to the treatment. Hmmm… the music actually sounded more like those from drama minggu ini days or cheap documentaries you get from FINAS. Hehe. But but but… as the treatment progressed, the music changed into soothing tunes which later just gets switched off from your senses as you enjoy the beauty treatment.

And that came the best parts… for someone who totally enjoys her facials, I noticed all the little details.

Tiffany went on to clean my face, first with the milk and after that, with a Pore Focus cleanser, suitable for my skin type. I’ve always loved the subtle scents in Lancome’s products and this cleanser has micro beads in it where I feel totally cleansed and refreshed. Then, she used a scrub on my face and as if she knew my bad habit, she advised me not to press on my skin hard when scrubbing as the scrub already contained properties to lift off dead cells. I liked that she layered my face with a piece of tissue after every cleansing ritual to take off the excess and then wiped off with wet facial cotton rather than rinse using a sponge, to prevent unnecessary tugging of the skin. Only after the final scrub did she use the sponge and I loved how warm water felt on a thoroughly cleansed skin.

Then, it was the steam and I wondered how she’d perform the extraction on me. I’ve always cringed that part since everybody else I went to had not scored high points in that department with me.

I was pleasantly surprised though that instead of leaving the room while my face was under the steam machine, Tiffany performed what must be one of the best hand massages I’ve ever experienced! If that was a special technique specifically from Lancome, I say, kudos to Lancome (and good job, Tiffany!). She was firm but knew what felt good. I didn’t have to undergo any pain in order to feel good. This already scored high points in my book.

The extraction part came with a wonderful surprise. All these while, my previous beauty therapist was the only person I’ve ever met who could extract my milia, even those painful ones near the eye area, with me feeling less pain. But Tiffany, well… she did better than that! She didn’t need to prick deep into the skin. All she did was a simple quick pierce and the oil seed came out and moi feeling minimal pain. What I liked about the extraction process was the fact that Tiffany had used 2 facial cottons dipped in their signature rosey-scented toner and pressed them together to pinch out my blackheads and whiteheads. That, is so much better than the feeling of cold metal prong being prodded on my skin. Another plus for Lancome (and Tiffany!) *yeayy*…

When that was over, Tiffany used a machine similar to the one used in Leonard Drake where it helped eliminate surface bacteria on the skin. But instead of doing just a shoddy sweep, she rolled in onto every part of the face, twice. *more points*

A peel mask was then put on my face (not a peel off mask but a peel) and Tiffany then left the room. Oh, plus points again for putting on Primordiale eye cream on my eyes (and lips too!) before putting on the mask. This similar process was also done before steaming my face.

10 minutes was probably up and the mask was rinsed away and the lights in the room was instantly dimmed. Tiffany used a relaxing cream and worked her firm hands on my face and upper body.

Instantly, I fell in love with the salon (and Tiffany! hehe…) and my initial intentions of wanting to explore other salons quickly diminished. This salon is here to stay ☺ It was such a good massage and I didn’t feel like I needed more… it was like the method was done perfectly for one to feel just right… that’s good, isn’t it? I’m not sure how long that lasted but after the massage, I felt drowsy and ready to sleep.

Next, she put a hydrating mask on my face. Now, this is one unique experience too since most salons would already double mask me. Here, they do a mask at a time. I fell asleep this time and Tiffany spoke to me in almost a whisper to tell me that she was going to clean my face when that time was up, finishing with such a nice soothing warm wipe on my face, neck and shoulders.

After that, she put on Primordiale Eye Gel to my eyes and lips area, the Hydra Zen serum, Aqua Fusion moisturiser and sunblock with SPF50. Plus points for slathering all those not just on the face but décolletage area as well! Then, the bed was transformed slowly back into a chair and before I got up, Tiffany gave a nice head massage to fully wake me up.

I got up and realised that the entire room was enclosed in white curtains and I couldn’t see the locker hehe. Tiffany pulled one part of the curtain to unveil the locker and then only did I realise the rationale behind it… I guess they had wanted the customers to feel like you’re the focus… and your head won’t feel cluttered seeing all those props, gadgets and products everywhere. I guess that had worked beautifully! All you see is a chair in the middle with curtains all around *applause*

As they had a Raya promotion, Tiffany then explained to me a mix & match package where I would get double the value I’d sign for instead of the usual buy-5-get-1-free. The amount was a little hefty to me but I was game for the double return that I would be rewarded with (plus that heavenly massages that I would get!!). And… they allowed me to pay a partial sum, where the balance is due at a much later interval. That scored another plus point in my book ☺

Really, I am in love.

I love it that their facials cost an average RM180 (some are lower, some as high as RM300 for the whitening facial) yet I get such excellent service and an accurate reading of what my skin is like so that a more effective treatment can be administered. Secondly, I loved that they didn’t rush on me… Tiffany took her own sweet time and experienced enough to know what needs to be done. I forgive her for her lack of communications skills with such firm hands ☺ Thirdly, I am okay with the extractions done on my face and appreciate those little details that Lancome created for a better and less stressful experience.

I love that they didn’t push me to buy any products but since I wanted to revamp my current skincare, I felt so well understood as they didn’t recommend that I buy from the same range. Instead, for the first time ever (which you may not receive such advise from the counters) my problem skin is dealt with more accurately – cleanser for oily skin, toner for sensitive skin, serum from the hydra zen range to increase hydration and the whitening moisturiser that will help slough off dead cells gradually while preventing that tired/dull look and evens out skin tone. Best of all, as pointed out by the one when I returned home, I didn’t look like I had the chicken pox again unlike how I’d look after every facial (and since it is in Bangsar Village, I was able to check out the clearance sale in Zara as well *yeayy*).

I guess if you know that Lancome products work well on your skin, do give Lancome Beauty Institute in Bangsar Village II a visit. Nope, this post wasn’t sponsored and I write truly from my personal experience.

So here’s the number – 03 2287 1084 / 03 2287 1087. It’s on the ground floor and if you’re not sure where you are, it’s the other side of where Coffee Bean is located (I had to walk a bit since there was no directory on site). There’s also one outlet in The Curve but I do not have their number.

Oooohh… I’m still in love as my skin still feels supple today. After more than a year of neglecting my skin, the wait was all worth it ☺
