pebble smart watch - wearables are where the future is at..

so i went and got the pebble. i guess the constant ads prompting me to get one finally did the trick and the fact that they offered me $15 discount pushed me to getting one. my last smart watch was a Sony. it did what it was supposed to do but it was a bit limiting since you needed to be constantly tethered to your phone for it to function. same can be said of most smart watches tho. but at least the pebble can still function as a watch if it is not connected.

anyways, i got mine directly from getpebble.com. it was a fairly painless exercise and they offered free shipping all over the world. so if you intend to get one you may want to opt for it. rather than go through mudah or ebay or any other re-sellers. look out for the occasional discounts you may get it cheaper too.

Sony SmartWatch

what's the time?

i have been looking for this smartwatch since they announced it. must have not been looking hard enough coz i never did find any shops selling it. the smart watch pretty much evolved from the liveview, but adds a bit more functionality and style to the whole package.

the smart watch, as the name imply is just that - a smartwatch. meant to be use solely as a companion to your smartphone, the smart watch provides access to important information on your phone without having to actually open your phone. there lies its apparent weakness as it is pretty much useless without a phone.

designed as a sony accessory, the smartwatch still plays nice with other android phones as well. i'm paring the watch with a samsung galaxy note. the only drawback that u have is in terms of incompatibility of some sony specific apps. but third party app pretty much make up for it.

different views

the watch has 3 main views. the watch face. widgets and apps selection. you need to install the liveware app on your smart phone before u can start using it. u also need to install the smartwatch app, where u can manage all the widgets and apps and other information that appears on the watch. there's a facebook, twitter and music control app. phone book and other stuff. if u use endomondo then the smart watch extension acts as a display to show your workout statistics.

there is a market for smart watches these days. some noted project like the pebble has been gaining momentum and will likely be a competitor to the sony smart watch.difference is display tech means that the pebble will have longer battery life and is also compatible with the iphone. personally for me, i just want something that can compliment my galaxy note. u don't need to whip out the phone all the time just to glance at some basic info.

old school vs new school

plus i just love gadgets. hehe.

Value-for-money Bag Organiser

Don't you just hate it that bags nowadays don't come with enough compartments to keep your contents like keys and wallet and lipsticks and whatever not organised so that you do not need to rummage through your bag just to find that pack of tissues?

Or that you've changed your bag today to suit your outfit (or your mood) and then half way through the day you realised that you left that favourite colour lipstick in your other bag because you forgot to transfer everything?

For me, I have always liked everything in an organised condition so that it will give me that convenience. In this case, I love a bag that's organised because I would want to have that peace of mind knowing that I can just slot one hand into my bag and instantly pull out the car keys just before I hit the parking lot, with a baby in one hand and other stuff to carry on the other to minimise the risk of being mugged at a parking lot.

I would like to just slot my hand into my bag and instantly pull out my mobile phone because I hate it when a phone is left ringing unattended because it can be a noise pollution for me especially when Jada had just fallen asleep and I need her to sleep peacefully....

And I just like to have that control in my life knowing that this little 'organisation' of contents in my bag is just a small matter that I do not need to get all stressed out just because I couldn't find Jada's lip balm for her dry chapped lips or my trusted pen as I had switched bags earlier. Trust me, with everything [almost] in chaotic mode at home and disorganised because the boss is your little girl and not you, having an organised bag does give a BIG relief to a housewife with a low self-esteem like me :(

I had recently wanted to get a bag organiser but I've been putting that intention away for awhile because the ones that I know sell it online at more than RM100 a piece. I would like to view and touch it for myself before putting in the order but I always knew that I should look harder before making that decision.

But... what do you know... my wish was answered yesterday, at a visit to Guardian pharmacy in Bangsar Shopping Centre while getting some toiletries and my stock of baby wipes - an offer from Guardian I simply couldn't resist!

a bag organiser in its original fuss-free packaging...

i purposely chose a hot pink tone to go with a hot momma. HAHA...

yeayy... i now know exactly where everything is...

and on the other side, i still have plenty of pockets for more lippies!!

or, i could just leave one pocket empty for other more important stuff.

i love that it has more compartments inside!! haha... i was getting pretty excited with this discovery ;P

see... it fits in my medium-sized bag just nice.

if not for the pink tone, the organiser wouldn't even be visible once my bag is shut... ahhh... i feel joy ;P

This bag organiser can only be obtained at the check-out counter in 4 attractive colours - black, pink, green and darn... I totally forgot the other one... possibly, yellow. If you buy RM40 worth of Guardian products, you'd get it FOC. I didn't buy enough Guardian-brand items and bought this for a cool RM14.90.

I am impressed at how durable the material feels and I think it is such a steal for the amount you're paying. I can feel that the stitching details are also pretty strong although I cannot say anything much since I've only used it for a day... still, for a price so cheap, I do not mind giving it a test... see how long it will last under my care...

Owh, and in my haste to get out of Guardian, I totally forgot to check how long this promotion will last. A quick look see on their website doesn't even mention this promotion. So, I'm afraid you'd need to head on to the nearest Guardian outlet if you're interested in this deal.

Accessorize and Monsoon have arrived our shores!

I have wanted to update on this ages ago but have not gotten myself to write in this blog. There are so many things to be posted but I guess I should just stick to my checklist and try to update them one at a time...

While walking around the new wing of One Utama Shopping Center some time late December 2009, I was stunned to see this one outlet with a very familiar name... one that I went absolutely crazy over on a trip to London. At that time, I thought they had absolutely gorgeous stuff that have far more variations than our local accessories shop, with better quality stuff, many innovative designs and materials used, and priced so cheap (there!).

when i was in the UK, i bought this pair of baby shoes from Monsoon, for Jada at only 3 pounds...

So, when I saw Accessorize, here in Malaysia (and in 1Utama, especially!), I knew I had to go inside and check out their stuff.

These were what I got for myself... the hairband is made of metal and suitable to be worn in any occasions. I even wore it to a formal wedding dinner and it made my whole outfit absolutely stunning!

those other round stuff are actually rubber bands for you to tie your hair with... they are silver and gold in colour.

i got them because i have this habit of putting my hairband on my wrist when i let my hair down and i thought wearing this on my wrist would make them look like bracelets and will not spoil my entire look if i am in a proper or smart attire.

In the UK, Accessorize is usually side by side to Monsoon, their sister-company selling beautiful clothes. In 1Utama, Monsoon is situated inside Accessorize... once you step in, you'll walk into a small area of gorgeous accessories that you'd probably go nuts about, and a few more steps inside, you will be able to see Monsoon section.

I got the metal hairband at RM39 and the rubber bands at RM19. Quite steep compared to your normal Sinma or Giant... but you get something really stylish and lasting.

I was taken in by the metal hairband since I have been wearing my one trusted hairband almost all the time... having to breastfeed still and taking care of a baby, I always made it a habit to keep my hair combed back away from my face. But that hairband is nothing stylish and since it is made of plastic, it is seeing some effects of wear and tear.

With the metal hairband, it secures really well on my head, doesn't move forward or backwards unnecessarily, chucks away nicely in my tote without me worrying it from breaking but most of all, it is just so presentable... as it can be worn anytime, anywhere.

The sales person told me that they were already open for 2 months then, which makes it into their 4th month now in 1Utama. They also have other outlets in KLCC and Pavillion.

In 1Utama, their outlet is on the 1st Floor of the new wing.

For more info, you can go to their UK website. You can also read about them here.
